Nichole Snead is a dedicated IT professional whose journey from Philadelphia to Greenville mirrors the growth and evolution of her career. With over seven years at ECU Health, her passion for health care IT shines through in every role she’s embraced. From her early days as a temporary end user support analyst to her current position in the Identity Access Management department, she’s not only navigated the intricate details of systems like EPIC but also played a crucial role in supporting ECU Health team members.

“Reflecting on my journey from Philadelphia to Greenville in 1991, I can’t help but see the parallels with my career evolution here at ECU Health. The transition was more than just a change of location; it became a transformative experience that shaped who I am today. Greenville, in many ways, has become my second home, a place where I’ve not only settled but also found my calling in the health care IT field.

“In the seven years at ECU Health, my roles have been diverse, each offering unique challenges and learning opportunities. Starting as a temporary end user support analyst and then transitioning to the service desk, I quickly became acquainted with the dynamic world of health care IT, handling calls ranging from software issues to the complexities of EPIC upgrades. The continuous learning and adaptation required in this field have been both challenging and rewarding, contributing to my growth and expertise.

Nichole Snead, a member of the Identity Access Management department, poses in her office space at ECU Health.

“Transitioning to the Identity Access Management department marked a significant step in my career. Navigating through technical issues, I have come to view our team as the ‘Pentagon of the hospital,’ ensuring every member, from the CEO to volunteers, has the necessary access for seamless health care operations. It’s a role that goes beyond the technicalities – it’s about being a crucial piece in the larger puzzle of patient care.

“One aspect that keeps me motivated is the opportunity to help others succeed. From assisting my manager during her initial days at the hospital to sharing knowledge across departments, I’ve become a firm believer in the power of collaboration. In this journey, EPIC has been a constant companion, evolving since my early days in 2014 and demanding continuous learning and adaptation.

“What makes ECU Health special is not just the cutting-edge technology but the incredible team I work with. They’re not just colleagues; they’re my superheroes. Whether it’s the EPIC guru or the Active Directory expert, we function as a close-knit family, supporting each other through challenges and successes.

“Looking ahead, I’m eager to continue contributing to the health care IT sector and being a part of the positive changes happening in our community.”
