“The ability to connect is very important to me.”
To truly tell the story of ECU Health, you must look beyond the buildings and medical technologies. We are defined by people. We are a united team of incredible people providing incredible care… every day. We are the People of ECU Health. Meet Tara Williamson, Nursing Assistant at ECU Health Medical Center. Tara shares her story of caring for patients and most importantly, connecting over conversations.
“I make patients aware of who I am once I walk into their room. I like to know who my patients are and make them feel as comfortable as possible. It’s part of the process for me throughout the night. If I can make their experience better or easier by smiling and having conversations with them, I do. I enjoy learning a few things about every patient I encounter. I’ve had a few patients let me know that I made their day and some even shared I look familiar or sound like someone they know. That makes me happy. The ability to connect is very important to me. Along with getting to know my patients, I play a large role in providing excellent care. I work with an amazing and supportive team. I keep the nurses informed of the patients’ progress throughout my shift. I enjoy my role and the impact I make every day.”
