With Community Health events across the 29 counties we serve, ECU Health is delivering health care in unique ways. This program makes health care both more accessible and approachable by directly providing preventative services, improving health care equity and offering resources within communities with the greatest need.

Award-winning approach
Dr. KaSheta Jackson, DNP, RN, Vice President, Health Equity and Social Impact at ECU Health, was awarded the 2022 American Nurses Association (ANA) Innovation Awards sponsored by Stryker Corporation, a leading global medical technology company Corporation. This recognition comes after Dr. Jackson and several ECU Health team members developed the Pop-Up Community Health events, an innovative health care delivery model implemented as community-based pop-up clinics across eastern North Carolina to address social and economic health care barriers.
Community Health events have been held in a variety of informal community settings, including baseball fields, farms, parks and churches, to build trust and improve community engagement. Designed and led by Community Health Improvement and Engagement Coordinators, Community Health events, address the social determinants of health.
