Our patient- and family-centered approach to care guides and supports you throughout your journey.

Starting prenatal care early — even before you get pregnant — will benefit your health and that of your baby. At ECU Health, family planning services and maternity care are designed entirely around you. Our skilled and caring teams of doctors, nurses and other professionals work with you to make your birthing experience special, safe and memorable.

Advanced technology ensures exceptional care for mothers and newborns. Our obstetricians, anesthesiologists and nurses are highly skilled and respected for their expertise. Should your baby need extra attention, neonatologists are available to provide your little one with specialized care.

Prepare and Preregister

Preregister to save time and energy when the time comes to have your baby. All you’ll need to do is complete a simple form, preferably by your 28th week of pregnancy. You can do this online—through your existing MyChart account or by creating one. ECU Health will contact you close to your due date to complete the process.

If you experience complications during pregnancy or have a pre-existing condition that raises your risks, your OB/GYN may refer you to the team of maternal-fetal medicine (MFM) physicians at ECU Health. Here, we are offer a wide range of tests and treatments to help diagnose and manage even the most complex conditions and complications.

You may need specialized care if you:

  • Are carrying a baby that may have a genetic or medical problem
  • Have a history of pregnancy-related complications like preeclampsia or gestational diabetes
  • Have a history of preterm (premature) birth or stillbirth
  • Have a condition that can make pregnancy risky, like high blood pressure or an autoimmune disorder
  • Are carrying multiples, such as twins or triplets
  • Will be 35 years old or older at the time of delivery

Throughout your pregnancy, we will work closely with your OB/GYN to manage prenatal care and coordinate with any specialists – like endocrinologists, pediatric surgeons, pediatric cardiologists and more – who will care for you or your baby.
