Keep your information secure.

Some ECU Health patients have received phishing emails with the subject line “Your MyChart Medicare Kit Awaits.” These emails are not from ECU Health or MyChart. They are phishing attempts designed to persuade recipients to click malicious links or share sensitive personal or financial information.

If you receive an email like this, do not click any links—including an unsubscribe link—and do not open attachments or provide personal or financial information. Report the message to the Federal Trade Commission, then delete it.

Take these steps to help protect yourself from phishing scams:

  • Confirm the sender’s email address. Hover your cursor over the address to see if it looks to be legitimate.
  • Be cautious of offers for free kits, rewards, coupons, gift cards, or prizes.
  • Pay attention to spelling and grammar mistakes.
  • Avoid sharing any personal information by email.
  • Resist messages pressuring you for immediate action.
  • Do not open attachments from unsolicited or unfamiliar emails.

To report this email and learn more about protecting yourself from phishing scams, visit the Federal Trade Commission website. The FTC recommends reporting suspected phishing attempts before deleting the message.
