On your journey to parenthood, we’re here with you every step of the way.

Becoming a parent is an exciting time, and ECU Health is pleased to offer support to you and your family during this special life event.

We offer a variety of educational resources, including Infant/Child CPR, childbirth education, newborn care, breastfeeding classes, lactation consultations, breastfeeding support, and a virtual hospital tour. Class schedules vary, so we encourage you to check our calendar of events to find offerings available close to you.

Childbirth classes are also offered at ECU Health Duplin Hospital and ECU Health Beaufort Hospital. ECU Health Chowan Hospital offers both breastfeeding and childbirth classes. Learn more about our events below.

Birth Companions is a volunteer service at ECU Health Medical Center that supports patients during labor. Our volunteers are medical, nursing, or allied health students who receive specialized training. Similar to a doula, a Birth Companion provides support through breathing techniques, position changes, and other comfort measures alongside your medical team.

If you would like more information or wish to request a Birth Companion during your labor and childbirth experience, please speak with your labor and delivery nurse.
