We also ensure that you, your child and family have access to small and large necessities while away from home, from pharmacy services and gift shops to accommodations at the Ronald McDonald House.

Seascape Theatre

At Maynard Children’s Hospital, your child can enjoy movies and so much more in the Seascape Theater. We play bingo, have birthday parties and do arts and crafts here too. If your child is unable to get to the theater, we can live-stream everything to patient rooms as well.

Ronald McDonald House

The Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina offers an in-hospital house and a main house. Accommodations are available to all families being treated here including warm meals daily, areas for relaxation, showers, laundry facilities, an outdoor courtyard, play areas and more.

Family Resource Center

Located off the main corridor, the Family Resource Center offers quiet spaces for reading and a wide selection of leisure and health-related materials for children and adults. With our business center, families have access to computer workstations, wireless internet, printing and faxing services as well.

Lobby Lagoon

From the outside, the shape of the hospital mimics a ship, complete with ship sails. Once inside, at the shell-shaped lobby desk — the Reception Reef, a receptionist greets visitors. Large sea creatures hang from the cathedral-height ceilings in the lobby — Lobby Lagoon, where you’ll also find a 700-gallon aquarium.

Café Bay

Café Bay is a great place to find light food selections, coffee and other beverages. It is located on the first floor, next to Lobby Lagoon – our main Maynard Children’s Hospital lobby. Hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Treasure Chest

At the Treasure Chest, located in Lobby Lagoon, you may find the perfect gift or toy for your child or family friend. The shop is also stocked with flowers, mylar balloons, cards and various essential sundries and necessities. Hours are Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Serenity Suite

We offer two areas within the hospital for meditation and quiet reflection. Families can utilize the serenity spaces inside the onsite Ronald McDonald House or the location just off of the main Lobby Lagoon area. The lobby location is also often utilized for baptisms, various ceremonies and weekly mindful offerings with our Maynard Children’s Hospital Chaplain.

Maternal Expressions

The Maternal Expressions Boutique at ECU Health Medical Center carries supplies for all of your lactation and mother/baby needs. Whether you’re looking for breastfeeding accessories, lounge wear or pajamas, infant or preemie clothes, teething necklaces, aromatherapy or spa comfort items, you can find these products and more without leaving the hospital. Maynard Children’s Pharmacy

To support the specialized needs of children who are patient’s at Maynard Children’s Hospital our pediatric pharmacy provides services for all patients in both our inpatient and outpatient areas. This team offers a healthy dose of not only focused knowledge but also compassion and caring for children.

Interactive Wall

Just off the main lobby, down the main corridor, is an interactive wall that takes children on an underwater adventure with tropical fish, sea turtles, seahorses, dolphins, whales and a scuba diver. Kids can stay busy for hours, writing words in the sand, dragging sea creatures around and popping floating bubbles.

Outdoor Spaces

Experiencing fresh air is important for the physical and emotional health of both child and parent. We encourage moving outside of the hospital room environment to experience time as a family together in our available pediatric playground and courtyard spaces.
